Bring your trainers to IWMW 2019. We’re hosting a conference run on the morning of day 2 that will take us to Greenwich Park and along the Thames.
An active addition to the social schedule
IWMW is known for its great social events at night, and this year, we’re adding a morning event for all you runners out there.
This, of course, is an optional event. We’re not looking to achieve personal records and run our fastest times. This is meant to be a fun way to bond with fellow delegates and head into day 2 of the conference with a clear mind.
Run details
Date: Wednesday, 26 June
Time: gather at 6:55am, start run at 7:00am
Meeting location: outside Daniel Defoe Hall (the University conference accommodation)
Length: 4.25k (2.64 miles)
Route description

We’ll be running a 4.25k route from Daniel Defoe Hall that will take us:
- uphill into Greenwich Park via The Avenue
- over to Blackheath Avenue near the Royal Observatory
- through Queen Elizabeth’s Oak
- downhill alongside Maze Hill
- over to the University of Greenwich campus
- along the Thames before finishing back at the halls
So yes, there will be an uphill bit for about half a kilometre. But this will end in beautiful views of the city for us to take a pit stop and enjoy the scenery.
Between running at a leisurely group pace, waiting to cross roads and taking time to stop for an optional group photo, this should take somewhere between 30 to 40 minutes. Back in time for breakfast!
If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with Advisory Group member Lauren Tormey, who is organising the run.
Fantastic. I was planning on taking my running kit to explore the area!
My trainers are packed. I’m also up for a run on Tuesday and Thursday morning if anyone fancies it!
I’m not arriving until Tuesday lunch time, so that day is out for me. But, depending on how heavily I “socialise” on Wednesday evening, I’d be up for a Thursday morning run too.
Excellent!
