IWMW 1998 Workshop Evaluation
Feedback on the Event Content
Positive Comments
- A good range of presentations
- A very informative 3 days
- More useful than I thought it would be! Will take lots of ideas back with me.
- A very enjoyable 3 days – lots of information and views – probably far too many to really assimilate & address.
- Excellent organisation; speakers with knowledge & experience.
- Brilliant! Useful, informative, friendly. Superlatives are appropriate. I want to come to the next one. We should have at least one a year.
- Good to see so many people here. Valuable chance to meet others.
- Well-organised, good time-keeping, mainly interesting sessions
- Renewed my enthusiasm for the Web
- Critical mass of people attending
- Fulfilled its aims well. Worth coming
- Well-organised. Presentations were really interesting and useful. I really appreciated the parallel sessions.
- Excellent. Perhaps more hands-on and group discussions needed.
- Very useful and enlightening.
- Well worth attending. It was useful to have the opportunity to discuss problems I thought were unique to my institution and to hear what is going o within the community. I also learnt more about web developments which I just do not have the time to find out about while at work.
- Felt talks were of a higher quality than at Kings. Good balance of talks.
- Both useful and enjoyable
- Excellent! It’s nice to have affirmed that I’m not the only person with my set of (web) problems.
- Really useful – it gave me a great deal of enthusiasm & confidence in my job! (It’s easy to get demoralised when trying to face all these web issues in relative isolation).
- Much better than the King’s event last year. Worth the very long journey.
- Excellent opportunity for networking
- Useful to meet so many people with the same problems, and see what we should be doing.
- Very useful. Lots to think over and do on return
Negative Comments
Participants were asked to list up to 3 aspects which were disappointing or could be improved.
- Too much passive listening all at once, felt a bit overwhelmed
- The fact that it was possible to attend only 1 parallel session – make them shorter and “tighter”
- No opportunity to try web tools “hands-on”
- Commercial displays / involvement poor
- Not enough time for questions
- I wanted to attend all 5 workshops!
- If it goes on screen it should be available on a handout.
- Would it be feasible to have a form input prior to the next workshop, allowing people to input a very brief lists of experience, activities and main concerns. This could be put up on a site and allow people to organise informal groups at the workshop
- Little on teaching on the web
Workshop Organisation Comments
Positive Comments
- Excellent venue and speakers & food (for a change).
Negative Comments
- Participants were asked to list up to 3 aspects which were disappointing or could be improved.
- Temperature (again)
- Accommodation
- Lunches were a bit naff
- Communication before workshop – joining instructions
- Too cold
- Would have been better if we hadn’t been split over Newcastle., – a shared hotel would have been good
- Evening meals could induce scurvy over long term.
- Suggest alternative to tea and coffee at breaks (water / juice)
- Food very poor
- PCs … were slow & cost us time during parallel sessions
- Catering – awful dinners
