Web 101

Cancelled due to low numbers

Are you a manager of a digital team? Do you run your organisation’s web team? Or perhaps you work in such a team and have responsibilities for content, user support, user needs analysis, etc.  And perhaps you sometimes are confused by the language used by your technical colleagues and find it difficult to discuss technical developments with them. If so, this session is for you!

Based on a session delivered recently to colleagues at the University of Southampton, Christopher Gutteridge will give an overview of the main technical layers of the web and web tools, and explaining how they fit together. Starting with the Internet itself, and DNS and covering  HTTP, HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

The session will be an interactive one so if possible bring a laptop and a sense of adventure. We won’t make you an expert, but by the end you’ll have an idea of how everything fits together.  In this session there is no such things as a stupid question!
