I am pleased to announce that the call for submissions for the IWMW 2019 event is now open.
The IWMW 2018 event will be held at the University of Greenwich on 25-27 July 2019. This year’s event is the 23rd in the series, which was founded in 1997. This event continues to be the longest-running, and most prestigious, event for university web and digital teams in the world!
The theme of this year’s event is Times They Are A-Changin’.
A look back at IWMW 2018
Those who may be unfamiliar with the IWMW series of events may find it useful to look at the posts on “IWMW 2018: Participants’ Feedback“; “IWMW 2018: Feedback on the Plenary Talks“; “IWMW 2018: Feedback for the Workshops and Masterclasses” and “IWMW 2018: Feedback on the Social Activities” which provides perspectives from attendees of the IWMW 2018 event.
What will be different for IWMW 2019?
As the “Times They Are A-Changin'” this year we have appointed a significant number of newcomers to the IWMW 2019 advisory group who will build on the work of last year’s advisory group and provide fresh ideas.
We have already introduced some developments to the planning process by hosting a ‘Slackchat’ meeting on the #iwmw channel of the HE Digital community in which, as described in a post on “What Do YOU Want From IWMW 2019?“, we sought suggestions from the community on ideas for the content and format of next year’s event.
In light of the positive feedback we received during the online meeting we intend to host a number of additional Slackchat meetings in January, especially for those considering submitting a proposal.
We will also welcome ideas for new ways of delivering content at the event and engaging with the users, Over the past 22 years we have seen a wide range of different approaches taken by speakers – perhaps it’s time to revisit an approach which hasn’t been used for some time or even propose some new ideas.
Call for submissions
The Call for Submissions provides further information about the submission process.
Note, that as well as submissions from those working in institutional web and digital teams, we also welcome submissions from those who are involved in institutional strategies and planning where this will affect the provision of digital services.
We also strongly welcome submissions those who haven’t spoken at IWMW before, as well traditionally underrepresented groups, and members of user communities, including students and researchers.
The call for submissions will remain open until Friday 8th February 2019. However we encourage early submissions in order that we can spot any gaps in the range of topics submitted.
Get in touch
If you would like to discuss a possible submission feel free to Brian Kelly or Claire Gibbons, the IWMW 2019 co-chairs (either individually or on the email@example.com address) or a member of the IWMW 2019 advisory group.
We hope to see you, and your teams, at what promises to be another excellent event.
